Lake Effects Youth Center was started in September of 2004, as a product of Munising Family Recreation & Entertainment which is an affiliate group of Milk & Honey Ministries a non-profit organization. Munising Family Recreation & Entertainment or (MFRE) was established in January of 2004, and was developed to seek out and meet the needs in the community of Munising, MI and surrounding areas by providing drug-free entertainment and healthy living through fitness, recreation, and nutrition. MFRE will develop subsidiary businesses to better focus on individual needs in the community.
Lake Effects Youth Center E4 is the first of MFREs ventures. The youth center focuses on youth 12-20 with activities to foster intergenerational relationships. E4 stands for Educate, Enrich, Empower, and Entertain. This concept is the foundation of our programming.
Educate Programs are offered to foster education in many capacities, from drug and alcohol awareness to tutoring programs.
Enrich We believe is it important to enrich the lives of people in our community. That is why we offer program to teach life skills, classes in the arts and much more.
Empowerment This program was designed to assist in training young people into becoming successful adults. Instructing youth on creating and facilitating businesses while they also learn essencial skills necessary to survive in today's society.
Entertain The youth will be able to enjoy a place where they can socialize with friends. We plan to have many things to keep them occupied in a substance free environment.
